Yep, there's computer jobs and lots of them. When I became a computer programmer in the 1980's, you didn't need a degree, or just an associate degree to get a job. But it was the chicken and the egg problem, where they want you to have experience, but how do you get it without a job? More people expect you to have a bachelor's degree, but if you have the latest skills (through credit or non-credit education), you can still get an entry level job, if you're in a part of the country that isn't unindated with experienced computer tech's.

What's hot and what could you get a job with an associate degree? Computer Support Specialists and Network support.

What's hot and needs a bachelor's degree? Computer Software Engineers and Computer Software Analysts.

What's cold? Computer programming.

Good luck!

There are more 'computer repair' people in work today than ever before. Where do you think they get the people to service all those warranty plans. They are all service companies and most of them do field work. Also, businesses use manufacturer's 'repair people' to fix/maintain their massive line printers, servers, and other systems all the time.

You need to write your elected officials in Washington about your circumstances.

Because according to MicroSoft, Dell, Apple and all the big tech companies, there are not enough good computer people in America and they need the H1-B visa requirements lifted so that we can bring in more foreigners to take our jobs.

There is NO shortage of computer techs, there is a GLUT.

Yet the big money the lobby throws at congress, and the presidential campaigners, is leading them to allow even more in.

We have let 20 million foreigners in since 2000. The number of tech jobs has dropped dramatically since then, yet hundreds of thousands of these jobs have gone to non-Americans, while OUR computer techs, both degreed and not, work for $8 at Best Buy.

Wake up America, before it is too late.

Surely there are. But ofcourse, the competition has increased too. But if you are good enough you can find a satisfying job for sure.
